St. Petri Church

St. Petri ChurchThe St. Petri Church dates back to the 12th century. It was erected as a plain catholic parish church and the building bears a strong resemblance to sturdy village churches.
It suffered extensive damage during the Second World War and the reconstruction work was completed only in 1972. The modern stained glass windows, based on sketches by Prof Carl Crodel, deserve a special mention.
Today the church is one of the highlights of the “Romanesque Road” in Saxony-Anhalt.
