Parks and public gardens

Westerhüser Park

In 1918 the park area was purchased by the city of Magdeburg as a location for a cemetery. However, only 3.7 ha have been used for that purpose as the rest of the area was planted with leaf trees and conifers. In 1934 the park was opened to the public. There are only a few trails in the park and since no building activities have been performed, it has become a protected area as well as a horticultural and botanic sanctuary.
